Pregnancy Back pain

Back pain during pregnancy results from spinal postural changes, weakening abdominal muscles and carrying extra weight (11-16 kg) all of which places extra stress on the spine and joints. Our Biokineticists are specialised in providing safe and effective treatment to strengthen your core, improve your posture & alleviate discomfort to ensure a more enjoyable pregnancy journey. 

 Core training & retraining

Regardless of your age or number of children, our experience is that most women cannot activate and use their core muscles properly. Throw into the mix a few vaginal births, caesareans, weight gain, age, menopause and you have a multitude of problems that can stem from having a weak, deactivated core and pelvic floor.  Nikki Meyer Biokineticists uses a gentle, breath-based approach to teach women how to activate, strengthen and use their core

   Menstrual cycle syncing

Nikki Meyer Bio’s specialises in teaching young girls and female athletes how to track their menstrual cycles and how to factor their cycle into their training and sports conditioning. We love teaching young women to work with their body’s, so that they can harness more energy, improve their physical and mental performance and reach their sporting goals. 

Diastasis recti

Diastasis Recti (DR) occurs in 100% of pregnancies. DR should resolve after birth but some women experienced severe DR leading to trunk, postural and pelvic instability. Diastasis Recti is an post-partum concern that requires expert core rehabilitation as provided by Nikki Meyer Biokineticists. 

Postnatal training

After pregnancy, it is important to re-establish a solid foundation of muscular strength before jumping back into your sport or training. Nikki Meyer Bio’s are experts in helping postpartum women achieve their performance goals confidently through core-retraining  strengthening of weak and “switched off” muscles. 

Menopause

Living a fulfilling peri-menopausal, menopausal & postmenopausal life requires you to take charge of your body and health. At Nikki Meyer Bio’s we are experts at helping to make this transition as smooth as possible. We believe that focusing on building and maintaining muscle mass and bone density along with optimum nutrition are key components in making this right-of-passage enjoyable.  

 PCOS, Endometriosis, Hysterectomy

Research shows exercise to have beneficial therapeutic application for pain management and post-operative recovery in endometriosis and hysterectomy. PCOS outcomes in terms of hormone balancing and infertility are also improved with a well considered exercise routine. We advocate for using science based protocols to treat & empower women so that they can take control of their most vulnerable health concerns.
